The Phoenixville Area Positive Alternatives (PAPA) was created due to the influence of the Million Man March which took place October, 16, 1995 in Washington, DC. Inspired by motivational leaders of the African-American community, five individuals decided to get involved in Phoenixville and take action.  These individuals primary goal was to create a safe haven for their children and provide an alternative to the streets during non-school hours.
